World Research Union's flagship innovation project is the development of VELS Coin, a cryptocurrency built specifically for the global academic and research community. Our founder's background in financial technology led WRU to pilot this as a creative, optional payment channel alongside — not instead of — standard fiat payment.
Authors and observers who already use cryptocurrency, or who want to support this initiative, can pay their registration fee in VEL at a discounted rate (see the fee table below). This discount is offered to encourage adoption of the project — it does not offer any tax, reporting, or currency-control advantage over paying in fiat; both routes are treated identically for accounting and compliance purposes.

- VELS Coin is a utility token created and majority-held by World Research Union. It is not an investment product, is not registered as a security or currency in any jurisdiction, and WRU makes no representation about its future value, liquidity, or resale price.
- The VEL price used for registration payments is set by WRU for that purpose and may differ from any price shown on public trading platforms.
- VEL's value can fluctuate. Once a registration payment is confirmed, WRU's no-refund policy applies regardless of any later change in VEL's price.
- Participants are solely responsible for complying with their own country's tax, foreign-exchange, and cryptocurrency regulations when acquiring or using VEL.
- WRU does not custody participant funds or wallets. Loss of a wallet, seed phrase, or sending funds to an incorrect address is the participant's responsibility.
- VELS Coin is not listed, verified, or endorsed by CoinGecko, GeckoTerminal, or any exchange.
